A few years ago whilst walking on the beach I heard the call of a crow, I turned around and there following me along the sands was, a crow! I walked on another 20 yards there was another report, I turned around there were now 2 crows, this continued until I thought I was in Daphne Du Maurier’s short story about ‘The Birds’
Traditionally the stomping ground of the Herring Gull which guards it’s territory very aggressively, on repeat walks I began to notice this family of Crows were completely unfazed by the disgruntled Gulls! and not only that, they were moving in!
Being obviously far more intelligent than the gulls they were able to out think and out manoeuvre the white plague and over the last few years have become very established, so much so they will not be intimidated or moved on! there is now a sizeable family of crows and I don’t know if their presence has anything to do with it but, other species of birds are returning! the Starling for one! which were driven out some years ago by the gull plague.
